Nightwish: End of an Era (2005)

End of an Era is a DVD and double CD from the Finnish symphonic power metal quintet Nightwish. Nuclear Blast recorded their live performance at the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, Finland on October 21, 2005, the final concert of a long worldwide tour for their album Once. During the concert the band was joined on-stage by Lakota musician John Two-Hawks, who performed “Stone People” from his album Honor as an introduction to “Creek Mary’s Blood”, which featured his voice and cedar flutes. End of an Era is the final Nightwish production to feature Tarja Turunen on vocals. She and the rest of the band parted mere hours after this concert, the name of the album most likely refers to this.

The Who: Live at the London Coliseum 1969 (2000)

Concert of the Who’s first filming of the Rock Opera «Tommy» at London’s opera house, the Coliseum, 14 December 1969. At this point, the Who were in full stride, playing behind Tommy and making waves where ever they went. This performance, as rough and raw as it seems, is the Who at their all-time nastiest. Opening with the powerful «Heaven And Hell», the group slays each number — «I Can’t Explain», «Fortune Teller», «Tattoo» — before ascending the mountain of conceptual copiousness.

    Punk’s Not Dead (2007)

On the edge of the 30th anniversary of punk rock, Punk’s Not Dead takes you into the sweaty underground clubs, backyard parties, recording studios, and yes, shopping malls and stadium shows where punk rock music and culture continue to thrive. Thirty years after bands like the Ramones and the Sex Pistols infamously shocked the system with their hard, fast, status-quo-killing rock, the longest-running punk band in history is drawing bigger crowds than ever, “pop-punk” bands have found success on MTV, and kids too young to drive are forming bands that carry the torch for punk’s raw, immediate sound. Meanwhile, “punk” has become a marketing concept to sell everything from cars to vodka, and dyed hair and piercings mark a rite of passage for thousands of kids.

    Year of the Horse (1997)

Indie director Jim Jarmusch lenses a low-tech tribute to protean rocker Neil Young and his long-standing band, Crazy Horse. Stitched together from archival material shot in 1976 and 1986 along with candid scenes of Young and the band kicking back between shows, this rockumentary is as ragged as it is direct. Concert performances include renditions of hits such as “Sedan Delivery” and “Like a Hurricane.”
