Reign is an upcoming period drama television series following the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1557 France. The series created by Stephanie SenGupta, Laurie McCarthy will air on The CW during the 2013–14 American television season. Reign will have its series premiere on October 17, 2013. In the United States it will air on Thursdays, in the 9/8c timeslot following The Vampire Diaries.

The pilot was mostly shot in Ireland and the leading roles are played by Australian, Canadian, and English actors. A large part of the filming for the first series will take place in Canada.
