$48.00The Dennis O’Keefe Show is a 1959-1960 sitcom produced by United Artists Television which aired on CBS for sponsor General Motors’ Oldsmobile division. It was not a ratings success during its original run, and was largely forgotten until a “Best Of” DVD release by Alpha Video during 2004. Certain episodes of the show can also be seen at the Internet Archive. It appears the series has entered the public domain.

This time, O’Keefe is cast as honest accountant Barry Amsterdam, determined to get the goods on Windy City gangster boss Arnie Valent (Paul Stewart). Insinuating himself into Valent’s confidence, Amsterdam quietly begins gathering evidence. For a while it looks as though Amsterdam will go the way of his predecessor in Valent’s operation, who ended up sleeping with the fishes, but in films of this nature justice usually prevails.

O’Keefe goes along for the ride so that he won’t be knocked off by Lane’s husband. Just when it looks as though O’Keefe is willing to go to any lengths to protect the woman he loves, he discovers that she frankly isn’t worth it.

The whole thing seems a bit fishy to Sitko, and indeed it is: the girl’s death was engineered by a black-market adoption racket, headed by one DeCola (Will Kuluva).

Unfortunately, no one wants to assist him with the case, including Sheriff Larry Best (Bendix). Finally, attractive local girl Anita (Britton) breaks the silence and helps investigator Donovan solve the case.
