Just prior to arriving at the park, however, Browning is given a clue by a dying man that something is amiss.

    Beautiful, detached, laconic, consumptive Lily Brest is a streetwalker with few clients. She loves her idle boyfriend Raoul who gambles away what little she earns. The town’s power broker, called the rich Jew, discovers she is a good listener, so she’s soon busy. Raoul imagines grotesque sex scenes between Lily and the Jew; he leaves her for a man. Her parents, a bitter Fascist who is a cabaret singer in drag and her wheelchair-bound mother, offer no refuge. Even though all have a philosophical bent, the other whores reject Lily because she tolerates everyone, including men. She tires of her lonely life and looks for a way out. Even that act serves the local corrupt powers.

    The Kids From C.A.P.E.R.

    The Kids From C.A.P.E.R. was a Saturday morning live action television comedy series for children, produced by NBC, that aired from September 11, 1976, to November 20, 1976, and resumed from April 9, 1977, to September 3, 1977. The 13 episodes were produced and directed by Stanley Z. Cherry; among the executive producers was rock impresario Don Kirshner. Both Cherry and Kirshner had worked for previous television series; Kirshner notably for the similairly-themed The Monkees.

    Although the show has not been released on video, there is an LP of most of the songs from the series, released by Kirshner Records and Tapes in 1977. One of the songs from the series, “When It Hit Me” was released as a single. In addition, it was recorded by Rob Hegel for his 1980 album released by RCA. “Tit For Tat,” and “Baby Blue” had both been previously released by Neil Sedaka on his 1975 album “Hungry Years.”

    The series was produced by The Avengers Enterprises Ltd for the ITV network, cost £125,000 per episode to produce at Pinewood Studios in England and was seen in 120 countries.

    A joint United Kingdom-France-Canada production, the series picks up the adventures of John Steed as he and his team of “Avengers” fight evil plots and world domination. Whereas in the original series Steed had almost always been partnered with a woman, in the new series he had two partners: Mike Gambit, a top agent, crack marksman and trained martial artist, and Purdey, a former trainee with The Royal Ballet who was an amalgam of many of the best talents from Steed’s female partners in The Avengers.

    Candy Candy is a Japanese novel, manga, and anime series. The main character, Candice “Candy” White Ardlay is a blonde girl with freckles, large emerald green eyes and long, curly hair, worn in pigtails with bows. Candy Candy first appeared in a prose novel by famed Japanese writer Kyoko Mizuki in April 1975. When Mizuki joined forces with manga artist Yumiko Igarashi, the Japanese magazine Nakayoshi became interested in Candy Candy. The series was serialized as a manga series in the magazine for four years and won the 1st Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo in 1977. The story was adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation. There are also several Candy Candy movies which were never released outside of Japan.
