Lilli Marlene (1950)
PKR 350Lilli Marlene, a French girl working as a bar maid in her uncle’s café in Benghazi, Libya, turns out to be the girl that the popular German wartime song Lili Marleen had been written for before the war, so both the British and the Germans try to use her for propaganda purposes – especially as it turns out that she can sing as well. When the Germans kidnap her in Cairo and she starts appearing in radio broadcasts from Berlin, her British soldier friends think that she’s joined the enemy. They couldn’t be more wrong, because after the war it turns out that her songs over the radio contained secret messages to London from British agents in Berlin.

PKR 350Passenger Marjorie Main tries to solve a murder aboard a train en route to New York. She also gets to sing “Possum Up A Gun Stump”. Directed by Oscar-winner Norman Taurog (but not for this), this 1950 comedy also features James Whitmore, Phyllis Kirk, Ann Dvorak, Fred Clark, Dorothy Malone, Clinton Sundberg, Don Porter, Regis Toomey and Mae Clarke.

Kim (1950)
PKR 350Kim, a young boy living on his own on the streets of India, is actually the son of a British officer. He meets a lama, a holy man, and devotes himself to his tending. But when British administrators discover his birthright, he is placed in a British school. His nature, however, is opposed to the regimentation expected for the son of a British soldier, and he rebels. His familiarity with Indian life and his ability to pass as an Indian child allows him to function as a spy for the British as they attempt to thwart revolution and invasion of India. Rejoining his holy man, Kim (with the help of daring adventurer Mahbub Ali) takes on a dangerous mission.

The killer is also looking for him, and keeps close tabs on Eleanor.
