    Ninety Nine got their break on a TV “comedy battle” show, with manzai acts competing for the chance to stay on the show each week. The diminuitive Okamura is one of the best of the young boke (dimwit), with an unpredictable and wicked sense of humor. He is also willing to try just about anything, from racehorse riding to passing his body through a tennis racket. Yabe is a soccer freak who played the game in high school. Like most of the members of the Yoshimoto stable, they come from Osaka and speak the distinctive dialect. The title of their hugely successful Metcha Metcha Iketeru show is one example of this “naniwa ben”. (By japan-zone)

    Mecha-Mecha Iketeru! is a popular Japanese variety show, shown on Fuji TV. The hosts of the show are the owarai duo Ninety-Nine, and the show is usually attended by regulars Yoiko, Gokuraku Tombo, Oasiz, Shinji Takeda, Akiko Hinagata, and Sarina Suzuki. However, Gokuraku Tombo’s Keiichi Yamamoto has not appeared on the show since being involved in a scandal in 2006. Egashira 2:50 also appears as a semi-regular guest. The show is also known as Mecha-Ike.

    The Mole Song: Undercover Agent Reiji (2014)

    Reiji Kikukawa, who has a strong sense of justice, graduated from the police academy with the lowest score ever. He becomes a police constable, but is suddenly fired by the Police Chief due to “disciplinary” issues. In actuality, the firing is part of a carefully orchestrated plan. Reiji is ordered to become a “mole,” an undercover cop. His target is Shuho Todoroki, the boss of the Sukiyakai gang. The group is the largest crime group in the Kanto area. Masaya Hiura, who works as a young boss of a Sukiyakai affiliated gang likes Reiji. While going through various hardships, Reiji works his way towards Shuho Todoroki.
