Malibu, CA

Malibu, CA is an American teen sitcom television program produced by Saved by the Bell creator Peter Engel that aired from 1998 to 2000 on syndication. Co-created by Engel and Carl Kurlander, the show centred around the lives of twin brothers Scott and Jason Collins, who move to Malibu, California from New York City to live with their father, Peter.

Guest appearances on the show included Dennis Haskins, Scott Whyte and Marissa Dyan from City Guys, Daniella Deutscher from Hang Time, and model Victoria Silvstedt.

The series was one of two post-Saved by the Bell: The College Years series executive produced by Peter Engel that did not air on NBC’s TNBC lineup, USA High being the other. Prior to the 2012 premiere of The First Family, Malibu, CA was the last situation comedy to be broadcast for the first-run syndication market.

The United States of America. It is Wednesday, January 6, 2021. A historic election campaign has divided the country. Now, US congressmen are gathered in parliament at the Capitol. They are about to approve the election result and declare Joe Biden the winner of the presidential election. Meanwhile, less than a mile away, the outgoing Donald Trump is speaking. Thousands of his followers are gathered. Power has been stolen, Trump repeats from the rostrum. He urges the crowd to march towards Capitol to protest. A few hours later, 5 people are killed and 141 wounded. With Trump’s political godfather, Roger Stone, as the film’s central character the film documents how Trump’s presidential period had to find its logical end point in The Storm at the Capitol.

Good Morning, Miss Bliss

Good Morning, Miss Bliss is an American teen sitcom that aired on the Disney Channel from 1988 to 1989, starring Hayley Mills as a teacher at John F. Kennedy Junior High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The show was originally a pilot for NBC, which was inspired by NBC president Brandon Tartikoff’s idea for a show about an “inspiring” teacher. NBC decided not to pick up the pilot, but Disney Channel did, premiering the show on November 30, 1988, and airing it for one season. The show was later retooled as Saved by the Bell, with much of the same cast but without Mills, and with a different setting. The latter show focused on the students rather than the teacher, and had a much more successful run.

Hang Time is an American teen sitcom about a fictional Indiana high school’s boys’ basketball team “Deering” with one female player, that aired from 1995–2000. It aired on Saturday mornings on NBC as part of the network’s TNBC morning block. It was created by Troy Searer, Robert Tarlow, and Mark Fink. The show lasted six seasons, during which the cast was changed almost in its entirety. Only two cast members stayed with the show throughout its entire run, similar to Saved by the Bell: The New Class.

Saved by the Bell: The New Class

Saved by the Bell: The New Class is a spin-off of the Saved by the Bell series which ran from September 11, 1993 to January 8, 2000. The series lasted for seven seasons on NBC as a part of the network’s TNBC Saturday morning line-up. It was the fourth incarnation of the franchise.

The show had the same concept as the original series but featured a new group of students now roaming the halls of the fictional Bayside High School. Mr. Belding, played by Dennis Haskins, remained as the school’s principal. Many of the stories were recycled plots of its parent series. The first season cast included Robert Sutherland Telfer, Jonathan Angel, Isaac Lidsky, Natalia Cigliuti, Bianca Lawson, and Bonnie Russavage. Unlike the original series, which featured very few major cast changes throughout its run, The New Class regularly changed its core cast with Mr. Belding being the only constant factor.

The series was universally panned by critics and most fans of the original series and is one of the worst reviewed teen shows, but had a positive reception to new fans of the franchise.
