    To Give A Dream

    13 years ago, the Abe family moved to a town in the suburbs, surrounded by nature. The Abe family consists of their French father Toma (De Lencquesaing Nozomi), his Japanese wife Mikiko (Rinko Kikuchi) and their beautiful daughter Yuko (Kanon Tani). They appear like the perfect family. Mikiko managed to get her daughter Yuko to take part in a CM audition and she was picked by Murano (Joe Odagiri), director of the advertising agency. Yuko is now in show business. Several years later, Yuko (Nana Komatsu) transfers to a large entertainment company. As her mother wishes, Yuko is now popular and appears on the cover of magazines, variety shows and drama series. Yuko, though, feels an uncomfortable imbalance between her public image and her real self. During this time, she meets a dancer, Seiko (Mackenyu), who marches to the beat of his own drum, and falls in love with him. The nightmare begins.

    Steel Angel Kurumi is a manga and anime series following the adventures of its titular character created by Kaishaku. Directed by Naohito Takahashi, animated by Oriental Light and Magic and produced by Pony Canyon with character designs by Yuriko Chiba and Yuji Ikeda and music by Toshihiko Sahashi, it has been translated and released in North America by ADV Films. In 2008 Crunchyroll announced it had partnered with Pony Canyon to release all Steel Angel Kurumi series’ for streaming and download.

    The Kurumi series as a whole consists of the first show Steel Angel Kurumi, four OVA episodes entitled Steel Angel Kurumi Encore, and a second show by the name of Steel Angel Kurumi 2, plus a sort-of dramatic prequel “Steel Angel Kurumi 0”. A live-action version was made, titled Steel Angel Kurumi Pure, but has a different continuity to the anime. This show was originally aired in Japan as part of WOWOW’s Anime Complex.

    The anime is set in an alternate history version of Japan during the Taishō period.

    Kurogane Communication is a manga series written by Hideo Kato and illustrated by Tomomasa Takuma. The individual chapters were originally serialized in Dengeki Daioh in 1997 and published in three tankōbon volumes by MediaWorks. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in which a lone human survivor, a girl named Haruka, lives with a family of five robots. The manga series is licensed for an English language release in North America by Go! Comi.

    The series was adapted into a twenty-four episode anime series by APPP. It premiered in Japan on WOWOW on October 5, 1998 and ran until its conclusion on March 29, 1999. The anime series was released to Region 1 DVD in North America by Media Blasters. A two volume light novel series, written by Mizuhito Akiyama, was also published in Japan in 2003 by MediaWorks under their Dengeki Bunko label.
