    Ghostbusters is an animated television series created by Filmation and distributed by Tribune Entertainment and launched following the success of Ivan Reitman and Columbia Pictures’ 1984 film Ghostbusters. It ran from September 8 to December 5, 1986 in daytime syndication and produced 65 episodes. The cartoon was based on a live-action television show from 1975 titled The Ghost Busters. It is not to be confused with the animated show The Real Ghostbusters, which was based on the 1984 film Ghostbusters. Columbia Pictures had to obtain the rights to the name from Filmation for its film, and after Ghostbusters was a hit, Filmation went into production with its animated series based on the characters from its series. The series is technically called simply “Ghostbusters”, but home video releases used the name “Filmation’s Ghostbusters” to avoid confusion. Reruns of the show currently air on Qubo Night Owl, and on the Retro Television Network. The series can also be seen on Hulu.

    She-Ra: Princess of Power is an American animated television series produced in 1985 by Filmation. It is a spinoff of Filmation’s highly successful He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series, aimed primarily at a young girls’ audience to counterbalance the latter show’s popularity with boys. As was the case with its predecessor, the show was based on a toy line by Mattel and was produced with financial backing from Mattel to promote the toys.

    The show follows the adventures of She-Ra, He-Man’s twin sister, who is leading a group of freedom fighters known as the Great Rebellion in the hope of freeing their homeworld of Etheria from the tyrannical rule of Hordak and the Evil Horde. She-Ra makes her début in He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword, a full length animated movie that was created by compiling together the first five episodes of the-then forthcoming syndicated series: “Into Etheria”, “Beast Island”, “She-Ra Unchained”, “Reunions” and “Battle For Bright Moon”. The series premiered in 1985 and was cancelled in 1986, after 2 seasons and 93 episodes.

    She-Ra first appears alongside He-Man in the theatrical film The Secret of the Sword, which eventually became the first five episodes of the She-Ra series. She-Ra is He-Man’s twin sister who was kidnapped at birth by Hordak and taken to Etheria, where she served as a Horde Force Captain before being rescued by He-Man and joining the Great Rebellion. With her Sword of Protection Adora can become She-Ra, just as Prince Adam can become He-Man. After reuniting with her parents she decides to return to Etheria.

    The Steve Allen Show is an American variety show hosted by Steve Allen from June 1956 to June 1960 on NBC, from September 1961 to December 1961 on ABC, and in first-run syndication from 1962 to 1964.

    The first three seasons aired on Sunday nights at 8:00pm Eastern Time, then on Mondays at 10:00pm Eastern in the 1959-60 season. After a season’s absence, the series briefly returned on Wednesdays at 7:30pm Eastern. The syndicated version aired mostly in late nights. The program, between September 1957 and June 1960 became one of the first programs to be telecast in “compatible color”

    Kinescopes of the NBC version were later rerun on Comedy Central in the early 1990s, with new introductions by Allen.

    Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is a television series, filmed in New Zealand and the United States. It was produced from 1995, and was very loosely based on the tales of the classical Greek culture hero Heracles. It ran for six seasons, producing action figures and other memorabilia as it became one of the highest rated syndicated television shows in the world at that time. It also gained a cult following along with its spin-off, Xena: Warrior Princess.

    It was preceded by several TV movies with the same major characters in 1994 as part of Universal Television’s Action Pack: in order, Hercules and the Amazon Women, Hercules and the Lost Kingdom, Hercules and the Circle of Fire, Hercules in the Underworld, and Hercules in the Maze of the Minotaur, the last of which served mostly as a “clip show” of the previous movies as a lead up to the series.

    Friday the 13th: The Series is an American-Canadian horror television series that ran for three seasons, from October 3, 1987 to May 26, 1990 in first-run syndication. The series follows Micki and Ryan, owners of an antiques store, and their assistant, Jack Marshak, as they try to recover cursed antiques, to put them into safety in the store’s vault.

    Originally, the series was to be titled The 13th Hour, but producer Frank Mancuso, Jr. thought this would turn away viewers and instead took the name Friday the 13th to deliberately draw in audiences. Despite this title, the series has no story connections to the film series of the same name, as Jason Voorhees does not make an appearance, nor does any character connected to the films. In the United Kingdom it was listed on TV schedules as Fridays Curse, though when going to advertisement breaks on ITV it would show as Friday the 13th: The series.

    The two series have several cast and crew ties, however. The show’s producer, Frank Mancuso, Jr., was producer of the movie series from Friday the 13th Part 2 until the final installment distributed by Paramount. The show’s star, John D. LeMay, went on to star in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, guest star John Shepherd played Tommy Jarvis in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, and episode director David Cronenberg appeared in Jason X. Fred Mollin, Rob Hedden, and Tom McLoughlin worked behind the scenes of both series.

    He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is an American animated television series produced by Filmation based on Mattel’s successful toy line Masters of the Universe. The show, often referred to as simply He-Man, was one of the most popular animated children’s shows of the 1980s, and has retained a heavy cult following to this day.

    It made its television debut in 1983 and ran until 1985, consisting of two seasons of 65 episodes each. Reruns continued to air in syndication until 1988, at which point USA Network bought the rights to the series. USA aired He-Man until September 1990. Reruns of the show are no longer being broadcast on the Qubo Night Owl in the U.S. Currently the show is viewed on Retro Television Network, on Me-TV, and in Canada on Teletoon Retro.
