Makdee (2002)
In a small North Indian village, Legend has it that a 100 years-old witch lives in an abandoned mansion on the village outskirts, and any person who goes inside is turned into an animal. In the same village a clever, naughty girl named Chunni (Shweta Prasad) lives with her widowed father, grandmother and her identical twin Munni, who is just the exact opposite of Chunni in mannerisms. But one day, Chunni’s prank causes Munni enters the witch’s mansion and the witch turns her into a hen. Chunni strikes a deal with Makdee (Shabana Azmi) that she will present Makdee with 100 hens in exchange for Munni in human form. How she manages this task forms the crux of the rest of this fun-filled children’s movie.

The film stars Tabu, Shahid Kapoor as the eponymous protagonist, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon. Haider is the third installment of Bhardwaj’s Shakespeare trilogy after Maqbool (2003) and Omkara (2006).

7 Khoon Maaf
7 Khoon Maaf, pronounced Saat Khoon Maaf (English: Seven Murders Forgiven), is a 2011 Indian black comedy film directed, co-written and co-produced by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film is based on the short story “Susanna’s Seven Husbands” by Ruskin Bond. After Bhardwaj saw the possibility of a script in the short story, he asked Bond about a film adaptation. Bond expanded his four-page short story into an 80-page novella, and then to a full-length script. The film centers on femme fatale Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes, an Anglo-Indian woman who murders her seven husbands in a quest for love. The film stars Priyanka Chopra in the lead role, with Naseeruddin Shah, Irrfan Khan, Annu Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham, Aleksandr Dyachenko, Vivaan Shah and Usha Uthup in supporting roles.
