Fury at Furnace Creek (1948)
The Arizona wilderness, 1880. Gen. Fletcher Blackwell sends a message telling Capt. Walsh, who is escorting a wagon-train through Apache territory, heading for the fort at Furnace Creek, that he should cancel the escort and rush to another town. Apache leader “Little Dog” is leading the attack on the wagon-train and massacring everyone at the poorly manned fort. As a result the treaty is broken with the Indians and the white settlers take over the territory with the help of the cavalry, as the Apaches are wiped out and only “Little Dog” remains at large. Gen. Fletcher Blackwell is court-martial-led for treason.

The Horn Blows at Midnight (1945)
A trumpet player in a radio orchestra (Jack Benny) falls asleep during a commercial and dreams he’s the angel Athanael. The beautiful angel Elizabeth (Alexis Smith) delivers Athanael to the head of heaven’s orchestra, where he’s told to return to earth and blow his trumpet at midnight, thus marking the end of the world. When he fails his assignment, he becomes a fallen angel, and though he’s given a second chance, his fellow fallen angels conspire to keep him from completing his mission.

Child bride Claudia Naughton has made life difficult for her husband David because she can’t stand living so far away from her mother. She’s also afraid her husband doesn’t find her desirable enough. To remedy both situations, she sells their farm to an opera singer so they’ll have to move back to the city near her mother, and she tries to make her husband jealous by flirting with a neighbor. Eventually, Claudia has to learn to grow when she discovers that she’s about to become a mother and that her own mother is gravely ill.

Tyrone Power is a pilots’ pilot, but he doesn’t believe in anything beyond his own abilities. He gets into trouble by flying a new fighter directly to Canada instead of to New York and letting it be towed across as the law demands, but is offered a new job ferrying bombers to war torn England. While on a layover he finds Betty Grable, an old flame, has joined the RAF as a WREN in her attempt to fight for democracy. Power joins up to impress her and in the course of his several missions begins to develope an understanding of what they are fighting for.
