    The series was produced by companies in France, Canada, the United States, Taiwan, and Japan. It was a co-production between DIC Entertainment in France and Nelvana in Canada; the animation work was outsourced to foreign studios such as Tokyo Movie Shinsha in Japan and Cuckoo’s Nest Studio in Taiwan. It was the first animated television series to be presented in stereo.

    Maggie and the Ferocious Beast is a Canadian animated TV series based on the books by Michael Paraskevas and his mother Betty.

    In the show, five-year old Maggie creates her own map of her imaginary world called Nowhere Land that, in reality, takes the characters nowhere. She imagines that are her friends. The show also features friends like mice, cows, and rabbits.

    The theme song for the show is “Maggie and the Ferocious Beast in Nowhere Land,” which is an original song by an unknown artist. Maggie and The Ferocious Beast is produced by Nelvana and directed by Jamie Whitney and Stuart Shankly. The series debuted in 2000 and the series aired its last episode 2003. The show was distributed by Nelvana, which owned the distribution rights. In the UK, the show was dubbed with British voice actors, replacing the original American soundtrack.

    The show is a Teletoon Original Production and first aired on Teletoon on August 26, 2000.

    Maggie and the Ferocious Beast once aired on American children’s channel Nick Jr. from July 15, 2000 until October 30, 2010 and has not been shown on any US station ever since.

    Babar is a Canadian/French/Japanese animated television series produced in Quebec, Canada by Nelvana Limited and The Clifford Ross Company. It premiered in 1989 on CBC and HBO, subsequently was rerun on HBO Family and Qubo. The series is based on Jean de Brunhoff’s original Babar books, and was Nelvana’s first international co-production. The series’ 78 episodes have been broadcast in 30 languages in over 150 countries. Episodes of Babar currently air on Ion Television and Qubo.

    While the French author Laurent de Brunhoff pronounces the name Babar as “BUH-bar”, the TV series in its first five seasons pronounces the name as “BAB-bar”.

    In 2010, a computer-animated sequel series spin-off of Babar titled Babar and the Adventures of Badou was launched. The new series focuses on a majority of new characters.
