Crocodile Shoes
$12.00 – $16.00Crocodile Shoes is a British 7-part television series made by the BBC and screened on BBC One in 1994.
The series was written by and starred Jimmy Nail as a factory worker who becomes a country and western singer. The show’s eponymous theme tune “Crocodile Shoes” became a chart hit for Nail as did the album of the same name.
A sequel, Crocodile Shoes II followed in 1996 and the theme tune “Country Boy” was a hit for Nail too.
Paddy McAloon of Prefab Sprout supplied five original songs to the two series, all of them recorded by Jimmy Nail.

Spender
$8.00Spender was a BBC television drama set in Newcastle upon Tyne, written by Ian La Frenais and Jimmy Nail, who also starred. The series was produced by Martin McKeand. The series was broadcast on BBC between 1991 and 1993. In all, 20 episodes were produced across three series, and one feature length special, set in and filmed in France.
It focused on the life and exploits of Detective Sergeant Freddie Spender who was often chosen to carry out more daring police cases. With his criminal sidekick Stick, Spender was one of the more remarkable TV detectives of the 1990s. The series featured a large amount of back story for the main characters with many episodes dealing with Spender’s domestic life, his family and circumstances. Some of the storylines were surprisingly dark; one episode featured the death of Spender’s wife at the hands of a ruthless gangster, another on the kidnap of one of his daughters. No further series were produced after the special, despite the popularity of the show, and it being a smash hit for the BBC in terms of ratings.

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet
$8.00 – $32.00Auf Wiedersehen Pet is a British comedy-drama television programme about seven British migrant construction workers. In the first series, the men live and work on a building site in Düsseldorf.
The lead roles were performed by Tim Healy, Kevin Whately, Jimmy Nail, Gary Holton, Christopher Fairbank, Pat Roach and Timothy Spall.
Auf Wiedersehen, Pet was created by Franc Roddam after an idea from Mick Connell came to light. It was mostly written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, who also wrote The Likely Lads, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? and Porridge. Stan Hey also contributed writing a number of episodes. The first two series were co-produced by Clement and LaFrenais’s Witzend Productions and Central Television and the series were broadcast on ITV in 1983-1984 and 1986. A successful revival of the show saw two series and a Christmas special shown on BBC One in 2002 and 2004.
The show was the subject of the first episode of the BBC documentary series Drama Connections.
