    Human Traffic (1999)

All that exists now is clubs, drugs, pubs and parties. I’ve got 48 hours off from the world, man I’m gonna blow steam out of my head like a screaming kettle. I’m gonna talk cods hit to strangers all night. I’m gonna lose the plot on the dance floor, the free radicals inside me are freaking man! Tonight I’m Jip Travolta, I’m Peter Popper, I’m going to Never Never Land with my chosen family, man. We’re going to get more spaced out than Neil Armstrong ever did. Anything could happen tonight, you know? This could be the best night of my life! I’ve got 73 quid in my back burner. I’m gonna wax the lot, man. The milky bars are on me! Yeah!

    A Respectable Trade

Based on the novel by Philippa Gregory, the British miniseries A Respectable Trade was what is known in the business as a “bodice ripper.” The story began in 1788, when well-bred governess Frances Scott married her rough-hewn employer Josiah Cole. It didn’t take long for Frances to become disgusted by the fact that her husband was in the slave-trading profession, and to take steps to get him out of the filthy business. Complicating matters was Frances’ ever-increasing attraction to one of Josiah’s “possessions,” a handsome and cultured African slave named Mehuru.

First broadcast over the BBC on April 19, 1998, the four-part A Respectable Trade was telecast in America as part of PBS Masterpiece Theatre anthology, beginning on October 25 of that same year.
