An animated television series was created and originally broadcast on Nagoya TV. It was also broadcast internationally on Taiwan Television, TVB Jade, GMA Network, QTV 11 and Hero TV.

    The series was superseded by Bomberman B-Daman Bakugaiden Victory.

    Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 is a Japanese anime series produced by Anime International Company and funded by ADV Films. A retelling of the 1987 original video animation Bubblegum Crisis, the series premiered on TV Tokyo on October 8, 1998 where it ran for 26 episodes until its conclusion on March 31, 1999. Toshiba EMI released the episodes on both VHS and Laserdisc across 13 volumes, each containing two episodes. The first volume was released on January 21, 1999; the final volume was released July 26, 2000. The series was later released on DVD, however the Japanese versions were simply the American DVD releases encoded to play for Region 2. Set in 2039-2040.

    Agent Aika, known in Japan as simply AIKa, is an adventure anime OVA series. Aika Sumeragi is a Japanese woman who works as a salvager for hire, but gets caught up in a plot for world domination. The series was available in North America from Central Park Media, but now it has been licensed by Bandai Entertainment.

    The series is well known for copious amounts of fan service, specifically “creative” camera angles that focused on the undergarments of the many female characters that populate the show.

    On April 25, 2007 the first volume of the three-part prequel OVA AIKa R-16: Virgin Mission, detailing Aika’s time as a 16 years-old teenager, was released in Japan. A remastered version of the original series was released also, along with a special Live Action edition of Agent Aika.

    In 2009 the three-part sequel to prequel OVA AIKa ZERO with 19 year-old Aika was released.
