The Count (1916)
The tailor’s handyman (Chaplin) burns a count’s trousers while ironing them and is fired. His superior discovers a note explaining the count can’t attend a party, and dresses up like one to take his place. Chaplin also goes to the residence hosting the party, but runs into the tailor. They both then struggle to win the fair maiden, Miss Moneybags. Soon, Charlie is distracted by a gypsy girl and the tailor must fend off other suitors. The real Count finally arrives, learns of the imposters and calls the police.

The Secret of the Box Car (1916)
Escaping after an early morning bank robbery, Gentleman Joe and his pal succeed in boarding a freight train headed toward Lone Point. Fearing rightly that a warning has been sent down the line, they secrete their loot in a box car, and, after noting its number, alight and seek cover until after the pursuit has cooled.

A Double Elopement (1916)
Sis is the maid in the Higgins home, adjoining that of Prof. Doolittle, a physical culture specialist. Sis takes up the study of “fysical culture” with disastrous results, for her throwing out of the medicine ball renders the Doolittle maid a subject for hospital treatment. Sis is then loaned to the Professor’s establishment.

The Vagabond (1916)
After passing the hat and taking the donations intended for German street musicians Charlie heads for the country. Here he finds and rescues a girl from a band of gypsies. The girl falls in love with an artist whose portrait is later seen in a shop by the girl’s real mother. The mother and the artist arrive in a chauffeured auto and offer Charlie money for his services, money which he rejects.

The Selfish Woman (1916)
A young engineer, Tom Morley, is building a railroad through Imperial Valley. Tom’s father also wants the job, and tries to persuade his son to give up the work, but Tom refuses. Tom falls for a society girl named Alice Hale, who marries him to bring prestige to her family. Initially, Alice plots against Tom, but Tom wins her over and they work together to defeat those who are plotting to destroy Tom’s work.
