    The Honeymoon Killers (1970)

    Based on the true story of Raymond Fernandez and Martha Beck, who met through a lonely-hearts correspondence club, Ray is weedy, feral, and untrustworthy; Martha is enormous, compulsive, and needy. Together, they play out a horrifying scheme in which he lures lonely women out on dates and proposes marriage to them, with she pretending to be his sister. They take the women’s savings and then murder them remorselessly. Dank, claustrophobic, and weirdly engrossing, this movie never quite gives in to the comforts of conventional narrative. Francois Truffaut named it as his favorite American film.

    Koichi Kuwagata (Ryuta Sato) is an associate professor for literature at a third rate university. He has lived a dull life up this point and now decides to live a stylish life and, in the process, takes on difficult to solve cases in and out of the university. Unable to solve the cases by himself, Koichi Kuwagata relies on the help of homeless female student Hitomi Kanno (Nanami Sakuraba) with her excellant reasoning abilities. Meanwhile, Professor Koichi Kuwagata uses his own delusional skills and can understand the thoughts of the criminals.

    A professor falls from a window at the university. Rumors swirl among the students that in the room where the professor fell, a strange incident called “April Ghost” took place. The night that the professor fell, the temperature was unseasonably cold and it snowed. Dean of the university Tsuyako Kujiratani (Mitsuko Baisho) asks Koichi to figure out what the “April Ghost” is.

    13 Demon Street

    13 Demon Street is a Swedish horror television series that aired between 1959 and 1960 in American syndication. Thirteen 25-minute episodes were produced.

    Lon Chaney Jr. was the host, introducing each episode from his ‘home’ at 13 Demon Street. Condemned for some shockingly atrocious crime, Chaney’s purpose in relating the series’ stories was to convince viewers that the crimes presented in them were worse than his, thus freeing him from his purgatory. This was hard for audiences to judge, however, because Chaney’s original crime was never specified.

    Three episodes of the series were edited together to make a theatrical feature called The Devil’s Messenger, in which Chaney’s character was reconfigured as Satan himself. Chaney filmed new wraparound segments to link the chosen episodes, which were ‘The Photograph’, ‘The Girl in the Glacier’ and ‘Condemned in Crystal’.
