    Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke

    Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke is a four-part miniseries that was first broadcast on CBS in 1999 starring Lauren Bacall and Richard Chamberlain. It was based primarily on the book The Richest Girl In The World: by Stephanie Mansfield as well as Bob Colacello’s two in-depth articles about Ms Duke in Vanity Fair. Colacello was the magazine’s authority on Doris Duke.

    The title of the series was derived from the book Too Rich: The Family Secrets of Doris Duke by Pony Duke and Jason Thomas. Manfield’s book was the first to be obtained by CBS, which optioned it for a planned miniseries in early 1995. The Duke-Thomas book, which was “being peddled as a miniseries” by the authors months before publication, was originally optioned earlier that year by the producer Doris Keating, who planned a miniseries of her own.

    Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke presents a dramatized account of the life of the heiress, philanthropist, and once richest woman in the world, Doris Duke. It has since been re-broadcast on The Hallmark Channel, and on Lifetime combined together and presented as a 192 minute movie. The film stars Hayden Panettiere as young Doris Duke, Lindsay Frost as 20 to 50 year old Doris Duke, and Lauren Bacall as an elderly Doris Duke. Bacall, who had met Doris Duke a few times, was pleased to have been able to appear in a TV miniseries, devoting a few paragraphs to the experience in her autobiography.

    Fortean TV was a British paranormal documentary television series that originally aired from January 29, 1997 to March 6, 1998 on Channel 4. Produced by Rapido TV, the program features anomalous phenomena and the paranormal. It was based upon the Fortean Times magazine and was presented by Reverend Lionel Fanthorpe. Fortean TV ran for 3 series. The three seasons comprised: 22 half-hour episodes, plus a final hour-long family Christmas special.

    Series 1 contained 9 unique episodes, broadcast on Wedneday evenings, with a final tenth “Best Of” the following week to round off the season.

    Series 2 contained 8 unique episodes, beginning again the following January, broadcast now on Friday evenings.

    Fortean TV Uncut – a short four-episode adult spin-off series with unseen material from the previous two series as well as new items – immediately followed, now back on Wedneday evenings.

    A Little Curious is a children’s television show which has aired on HBO Family since 1998, lasting for just two seasons, and. The 23-minute episodes are essentially anthologies of shorts centered on a common, easily digested theme such as “Up and Down” or “Slippery.” While each short draws from the same pool of characters, one unique element of the show is that each short may be produced using one of a number of animation techniques, such as stop-motion, Flash animation, traditional 2-D cel animation, and 3-D CGI, along with live-action segments narrated by Bob the Ball. Some of the shorts are designed to fit more than one theme and are re-used in a number of different episodes.

    Watership Down

    Watership Down is an animated television series, loosely adapted from the novel of the same name by Richard Adams. It was a co-production of Alltime Entertainment of the United Kingdom and Decode Entertainment of Canada, and produced by Martin Rosen, the director of the 1978 feature film adaptation.

    Watership Down aired for 39 episodes and three series from 1999 to 2001, on both YTV in Canada and CITV in the UK, though the latter did not broadcast the third series. It starred several well-known British actors, including Stephen Fry, Rik Mayall, Phil Jupitus, Jane Horrocks, Dawn French, John Hurt, and Richard Briers, among others. Stephen Gately sang a new arrangement of Art Garfunkel’s “Bright Eyes”, which had been included in the 1978 feature film, while Mike Batt and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra contributed a completely new score. In 2003, composer Eric Robertson as well as David Greene and Mike Batt were nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Original Music Score for a Dramatic Series for their work on the show.

    Some episodes from the adaptation were released on VHS and later, DVD. In October 2005, a Region 2 DVD box set of all three series was released in the UK.
