    Alexei Sayle’s Merry-Go-Round

Alexei Sayle’s Merry-Go-Round was a comedy sketch show which ran on BBC2 for a total of 6 episodes over one series in 1998.

Alexei Sayle’s final series was almost identical in format to The All New Alexei Sayle Show except with yet another change of writers.. Unusually, there was no studio audience.

Sketches included the talents of Noel Fielding, Lee Hurst, Paul Putner, Gemma Rigg, Reece Shearsmith, Jessica Stevenson, David Walliams and Peter Serafinowicz

The continuing adventures of Bobby Chariot were chronicled. Now free from any obligation to be Alexei’s warm-up man, he traversed a series of other career cul-de-sacs under the appalling management of the repulsive “Edna” Denise Coffey. In one episode, the joke was turned on its head as Chariot performed for an audience of students, who enjoyed his act ironically and responded to his catchphrase “How ya diddling?” with an enthusiastic reply of “We’re diddling fine!”.

Meanwhile Alexei Sayle himself was depicted as living in a Teletubbies-style burrow somewhere in the posh part of North London.

    The Peter Serafinowicz Show

The Peter Serafinowicz Show was a BBC Two comedy sketch show written by and starring Peter Serafinowicz. The first series started on 4 October 2007 at 21:30 as part of the newly launched “Thursdays Are Funny” brand on BBC2 and Thursdays on ABC2. On 1 August 2008, American cable network G4 began broadcasting the show as part of their “Duty Free TV” block of international programming.

On 13 December 2008, a 45 minute compilation episode, The Peter Serafinowicz Show: Best Of aired on BBC Two. Serafinowicz impersonated Terry Wogan to host the episode. Although the series was culled from was aired without a laughter track, the audience reactions, which had been recorded at the time on all six shows but not used, were utilised on the clips in this special, presumably to establish continuity with the subsequent Christmas special, itself being broadcast with a complete laughter track.

One series has been made so far; the BBC has since decided not to produce a second series. A Christmas Special was aired on 23 December 2008. Sketches from the special have been released online and include Mactini and iToilet.

    Look Around You

Look Around You is a British television comedy series devised and written by Robert Popper and Peter Serafinowicz, and, in the first series, narrated by Nigel Lambert. The first series of eight 10-minute shorts was shown in 2002, and the second series of six 30-minute episodes in 2005, both on BBC2.

The first series was broadcast on BBC America in early 2005, with a slightly edited version of the second series airing in March 2006. Starting 18 January 2009, the series was aired on Adult Swim in the US. The first series of Look Around You was nominated for a BAFTA award in 2003.

Although a third series was ruled out, Robert Popper stated that he and Serafinowicz would do another project together, saying:

“Sad news is we are not making a third series of Look Around You, but hope to make a new series of something else silly some time.”

As of 2008, Serafinowicz and Popper were working on a new television series for Adult Swim, as well as a website, based on a spoof religion “Tarvuism”.
